Our approach was to design a “Mini Innovation Center” with product vignettes allowing for personal demonstrations and intimate conversations at each demonstration area. This ensured that each product was spotlighted. We created lounge-like settings for attendees to relax and indulge in coffee or cider while engaging in meaningful exchanges facilitated by 3M staff.
To lean into an atmosphere of comfort and connection, we designed a high-end Midwestern cabin ambiance that resonated with both the brand and the people in attendance. The space was meticulously crafted with wood furniture, buffalo check blankets, and locally sourced dried flowers, complemented by displays of local Minnesota beverages and snacks.
In alignment with 3M’s commitment to sustainability, we prioritized eco-friendly practices throughout the event planning process. Every detail, from recycled material prints adorning the walls to demo plaques made from biodegradable materials, the emphasis on sustainability was apparent. It even extended into the event’s operations, with eco-conscious choices such as using non-PVC vinyl and providing guests with reusable metal camping mugs as takeaway gifts.
The Experience
The “Mini Innovation Center” was a resounding success. Both attendees and 3M staff reveled in the engaging experience as a welcome respite from the chaos of the CES show floor. Contextual product showcases and facilitated networking opportunities highlighted 3M’s latest innovations and provided attendees with a memorable and meaningful experience that built excitement for future partnerships. The event exuded a distinct Minnesota vibe that seamlessly integrated with 3M’s brand values to create a personalized, VIP experience. Meticulous planning ensured flawless execution, and the sustainability measures taken resulted in minimal waste generation. The design approach left a lasting impression, with guests expressing a desire for more experiences of this caliber, highlighting the event’s effectiveness in strengthening relationships and showcasing innovation in a highly personal way.
